The Filmmaking Research Network (FRN) was a project funded by the AHRC between 2017 and 2019. Its role was to develop understanding in the field of filmmaking research by sharing best practice internationally and developing resources. The FRN commissioned Insights for Impact to develop resources that improved capacity and research infrastructure. We developed a case study template and used FRN data – combined with other sources including the REF case study database – to develop resources looking at impact, assessment, methods and funding in the discipline.
This led to four publications:
- Film Research in REF Impact Cases
- Assessment of Filmmaking as Research
- Researching Filmmaking Practices
- Funding for Film as Research
These case studies focus on filmmaking but have lessons for other areas of practice research. If this is something you are interested in exploring do drop us a line
