Our Work: University of the Highlands and Islands

“Reviewing and enhancing case studies across diverse departments and subject areas”

University of the Highlands and Islands

Over two years, Insights for Impact supported the University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI) to review and advise on improving impact case studies for REF2021 across all disciplines, from health and environmental science to modern languages, from linguistics to history. We worked with the senior management team on a review process and supporting researchers one-to-one and in small groups, to improve the impact, evidence, and narrative for case studies.

Professor Neil Simco, Vice-Principal Research and Impact, University of the Highlands and Islands:

“The University of the Highlands and Islands was absolutely delighted with the support it received from Saskia Gent to support the development of our case studies for REF2021. Saskia was simultaneously supportive and constructive, but also respectfully challenging and flexible too. Above all she engaged at depth with case study authors across a range of disciplines and really took the time to understand the individual nuances in each case study.”
